Roof Mounting
no roof attachment
The 6th-generation Ford Bronco (2021+) presents a unique engineering challenge: the removable hardtop and soft-top roof options mean there is no permanent roof structure for traditional rack mounting. The mounting solution depends entirely on which top configuration you have. For hardtop Broncos: aftermarket rack systems (Front Runner, Rhino-Rack, Yakima) mount to the hardtop via drilling or clamp systems. Critical caveat: these racks are attached to the removable hardtop panels, NOT to the vehicle's structural frame. Load ratings are limited by the hardtop's fiberglass or molded construction β typically 100-150 lbs dynamic maximum. For Broncos with the modular hardtop: the roof panels are designed to be removed individually. A full-length rack bridges all panels and effectively prevents removal while installed. Some owners run a partial rack over the rear section only. The Sasquatch and Raptor trims do NOT change the roof attachment engineering β they modify suspension and tires only. The roof system is identical across all trims with the same top type.
