Roof Mounting
raised rails with factory rails
The Honda CR-V has maintained raised roof rails across both the 5th generation (2017-2022) and 6th generation (2023+), which simplifies crossbar selection: raised-rail feet work on both. The Thule Evo Raised Rail (710401) with WingBar Evo, or Yakima TimberLine towers with JetStream bars, provide verified perfect fitment. The CR-V's rail-to-rail span is approximately 40 inches β slightly narrower than the RAV4. Maximum front-to-rear crossbar spread is 34 inches on the 5th gen and 36 inches on the 6th gen due to a longer roofline. The Thule Motion 3 XL fits without issue; the Canyon XT basket (49 x 40 inches) sits within rail boundaries with 2 inches of clearance per side. Honda offers a factory crossbar system (part 08L04-3A0-100 for 6th gen) rated at 165 lbs max load capacity. These factory bars use a proprietary channel in the rails. Aftermarket systems from Thule and Yakima use universal rail clamps and are not interchangeable with Honda's OEM attachment points. 6th-gen specific: Honda redesigned the rail end caps with a more integrated aesthetic. The structural rail profile remains compatible with the same clamp systems. Do not mistake the visual change for a mounting change.
