Roof Mounting
raised rails with factory rails
The 3rd-generation Subaru Crosstrek (2024+) continues the Subaru tradition: raised roof rails with integrated swing-out crossbars, standard on all trims. The factory crossbar system is functionally identical to the Forester and Outback β key-lock deployment, 150 lbs dynamic load rating. The Crosstrek is the narrowest vehicle in Subaru's lineup with this system. Rail-to-rail span is approximately 38 inches, and crossbar spread is 28-34 inches (with rear bar relocation). This works for compact cargo boxes (Thule Force XT M, Thule Motion 3 S/M) but limits options for full-size boxes. For aftermarket crossbars: Thule Evo Raised Rail (710401) or Yakima TimberLine towers fit the same rail profile as the Forester and Outback. Crossbar length is Crosstrek-specific β shorter than both siblings. The Crosstrek's lower roofline height makes loading easier than the Forester. Most adults can reach the crossbars without a step stool, which is a practical advantage for daily-use accessories.
